War of the cover designs!

So I haven’t been completely happy with the cover of Blowback:

After some thinking, I decided the badass chick on the oil pipeline was great, but the game isn’t really about agents in the field. So I came up with this:

Blowback New

Which do you like better? Why? Anything you think I should change?

  1. I like the second one better because it makes a stronger impact. Few of us are familiar with the scene in the first one but almost all of us understand the suburban setting. A huge gun like that really makes a statement in such an environment.

  2. Hi Emily,

I’d replicate the composition of the first cover. That is, I prefer the space and position of the lettering in the first image.

I also think the explanatory text (Set Up. Sabotaged. Stuck.) cheapens it.

I also prefer the saturation of the backdrop in the first image. Maybe if you drop the saturation in the suburban backdrop? Also, I think you need to punch up the bloom in the suburban backdrop so it matches the glaring light on the woman’s skin.

I think the sexy chic with a gun works better with the stark backdrop. She is differentiated from gun/wasteland by her clothes and style. This says “badass” to me. In the suburban backdrop the girl is harmonious with the backdrop but the gun stands out. To me, this says “amateur vigilante” for some reason.

  3. Definitely the second one. And really dislike the logo on the first.
